General Technology Tips
- Don't be afraid to investigate software programs, push buttons, or try new things out. If all else fails, Google it or ask your District Technology Coach...see form above.
- Make sure that students do not have access to your Skyward grade book or any private information that could be viewed on your computer.
- Organizing your email saves time and speeds up your computer. Create folders and simply drag and drop your emails from your inbox to the correct folders to optimize the functionality of Groupwise.
- Organizing your files saves time and frees up storage space by eliminating unnecessary or duplicate files. Within Windows Explorer create folders and simply drag and drop your files or cut and paste them from their old locations. If you are unfamiliar with Windows Explorer, please contact your District Technology Coach.
- When not in use, it is wise to save bulb-life by turning off your data projector.
- To save energy, please shut down your computers every night and turn the power off to your monitor and speakers.
- Save your really important files to your network space not to your computer's hard drive as they need to update often and doing so erases all file stored on the hard drive.
- If your network space is becoming full, look for large or duplicate files and eliminate them or save them to a external hard drive that you may purchase on your own. Personal pictures, videos, and music can take up enormous amounts of storage space...these should be saved to an external storage device when possible.
- All questions regarding your computers or related hardware should be submitted to the District Technology Coach or your building technology teacher if you have one...(Dave D @ MMS or Eric H. @ MHS). We will try and solve the problem for you or provide professional development and if we can't help, then we will forward your request to the IT Department.
